1. The video will begin with the company logo
on a dark background followed by a fade into the artist logo and song title
against an establishing shot of a house. This will be alongside the
instrumental opening of the song. The video will then cut to a close up tracking
shot of the main character running down the stairs to the beat of the
instrumental opening mixing with the lyrics. Following this – the shots will
alternate between performance and narration. At the end of this section of
video there will be a close up of the main character putting earphones in
(product placement). After this, the music will get louder as if the audience
are listening to the music as the character is.

2. These shots will follow the main character
walking through the city. The main shots in this scene will involve longshots
and medium shots as well as medium and close up tracking shots. Near the end
of this scene the main character will notice something that hints to his
identity and willingness to tell his friends – this will be shown through an
over the shoulder shot followed by a point of view shot.

3. For the performance shots in this scene I
will use higher pans left to right as well as low angles, medium shot and
long shots in order to clearly establish the rural location and high key
lighting (that is in contrast to the narration). Close ups of the artist will
also be used to show her passion and emotions throughout the song. The
narration in these shots will be minimal as this is the chorus - they will involve a close up side tracking
shot of his feet then on the beat of the song it will cut to exactly the same
shot but different in a different location/background to show that he is in a
different place. At the end of these lyrics “hold me tight and not let go”
the main character will see his friends.

4. These shots will involve the main character
hanging out with his friends. Throughout these there will be hints to the
LGBTQ+ community. For example, there will be a low pan close up of one of the
friends wearing a LGBTQ+ coloured wrist band. On the lyrics “cause I’ve been
hearing symphonies” the main character will notice another thing that hints
to his identity and willingness to tell his friends. Other shots such as a
wide pan and low angle tilted up shot (steady and not hand held) will be used
to show the group walking and messing around together.
At the end of these lyrics the characters will be at a bench admiring each other’s extravagant makeup – the main character will start to be feel uncomfortable. This will be shown through point of view and close ups to show his emotions. |

5. At this point the pace slows a little – to
mirror this my shots will be slightly longer and less frequent. The shots I
will use medium shots and long shots. There will be less pans and tracking
shots as these would quicken the pace. At the end of these lyrics I will use
close ups again but instead of using them to show her passion it will be to
show her dismay and wish for the main character to come out.

6. This will start with a cut to the main
character’s face – it will be the same close up as the last one with the same
facial expressions. This will then cut to the main character back at his
house looking in the mirror (he will look directly at the camera and the shot
will be an over the shoulder shot) and deciding to put makeup on. In this
scene the beat will increase quickly so shots will be frequent and on the
beat of the song. I will use a worm’s eye view shot when the main character
goes to pick up the makeup palettes.

7. The beginning of this scene will be a
tracking shot of the main character’s back as he walks down the street. The
scene will then cut to the high key lighting performance of a low angle shot
followed by a left to right medium shot pan. As the pan continues it will cut
to the same pan turning to the front of the main character. This transition
will be followed by a close up of his makeup and then a long shot.

8. This scene will start with a medium close up
shot of the main character. On the beat it will cut to a medium shot but with
one of his friends next to him. On the next beat it will cut to a slightly
zoomed out medium shot with both the friends with the main character. Between
these cuts there will be wide pan and low angle tilted up shot (steady and
not hand held) – these shots are the same as when the group hung out at the
beginning to mirror their happiness then and now. At the end of this scene at
the lyrics “oh, oh, oh” the medium shot of the group with zoom out quickly to
a longshot. The performance shots in this scene will be minimal.

9. For this scene, after the first lyrics the
music will get quieter and fade out. This first lyric will be performance
with a medium long shot with a slight low angle. It will then cut to the
first high angle close up of the main character in makeup.
