Location

Locations

Location 1: the house

I have chosen this house as location 1 because the wide street and house will be making it easier to film here and create the first establishing shot. Also, because of this wide street tracking shots will be easier to make. The cars that go past here will also help to create a city atmosphere, even if they pose as a risk of safety (which will be reviewed in the risk assessment).  Furthermore, due to many bushes a contrast in lighting between the performance and narrative at this point in the video will be clear. Here there will be lower key, natural light, whereas in the performance there will be more high key lighting. In addition, on weekends this road is not too busy so it will be less likely to receive complaints from residents and walkers.

 Location 2: Field

I have chosen this location for my performance shots. I have done this because the size of the field ensures that longshots, pans and low and high angles can be created without getting pedestrians in the shots. Furthermore, due to the space be predominantly open high key lighting will be easier to make. Although it also means that it will be difficult to re-take shots as the sun will change the lighting frequently – I will still be able to create the contrast between the narrative and performance. In addition, having the performer in an open space is conventional of pop music genres therefore helping to create iconography for the audience. Overall, this ensures that I meet the brief “at least two different locations” and “range of camera shots”.

Location 3: City

I have chosen this location for the city shots. I have done this because the wide, unbusy street means that pans, medium shots and zooms into wide shots can be accomplished. Also, this setting will clearly represent a city atmosphere – helping to create verisimilitude for the audience demographic. Having the majority of the narrative set in a city will appeal to the fun-loving 16-25 target audience as this is were they can relate to having fun with their friends – which in turn will create a fun-loving atmosphere in the video.
